Our Wacky World—4/3/2011

Elizabeth Taylor died. Here she is naked.

The 2011 Pigasus Awards Awards have been announced. No surprises this year. The usual crop of frauds and idiots.

JREF

How's it going, Dr. Oz?

"...a 34-year-old pregnant woman who was suffering from a major depressive disorder, attempted to take her own life. Friends found her in time and persuaded her to get help. Six days later, Shuai underwent cesarean surgery and delivered a premature newborn girl who, tragically, died four days later. Shuai was arrested, jailed, and charged with murder and attempted feticide."
ACLU

"He landed head first on a road 15ft below and an eight-inch long part of the metal railing speared into the side of his body. The 18 year old... is unlikely to walk again"
"A council finance officer wrote: 'It has been reported to me that you caused damage to a section of railings... The council is entitled to recover the costs... An invoice will be raised in due course in respect of the cost of these works and sent to you for settlement.'"
Mail Online

"Police officers responded to a family's complaint that their diabetic son may have been in danger from driving without taking his medicine by running him off the road into an interstate highway median and shooting him to death"
Courthouse News

Get stoned
"Thomas used the Bible as his justification for killing the man by hitting him in the head with stones, which were stuffed in a sock."
One New Show

"Rescue crews had to crawl over possibly decades worth of collected items just to get to Wilson whose decomposing body was found inside his room. It took about 2 hours to remove the body."

Not Madonna
"...the lawsuits are piling up. With her Malawian staff suing for unfair dismissal and local politicians in uproar about what they see as Madonna’s broken promises, the singer is threatening her own legal action to recover some of the money wasted so far... the pop star’s beloved Kabbalah Centre headquarters in Los Angeles, which she helps fund — and uses to distribute her fortune to charity projects such as Raising Malawi — is being sued for £15 million by a wealthy heiress, who claims she was duped into donating money"
Mail Online

"An East Harlem granny was found dead in a bedroom closet on Wednesday - after relatives walked in on her grandson having sex with a woman in the same room"
New York Daily News

I'm a bit unimpressed by this no-fly zone over Libya but at least it gave us another classic quote from the geographically-challenged Right:
"Is there a plan? Is the mission to take Gadhafi out?" Mr. Marino asked.... "Where does it stop?" he said. "Do we go into Africa next? "
